Alan joined the Greater Wellington Club in 1986 and has served on the committee ever since. He was President from 1988-90 and Secretary from 1994-96. He has been Editor of the Club's magazine called "Cit-Bits" since 1992.
Always an ardent supporter of the Citroen marque, having never owned any other type of vehicle. It all started back in 1970 with a1951 Light 15, then a 1958 DS19, 1964 D Safari, 1973 GS 1220 Club, 1982 GSA Pallas, 1986 BX 16TRS, 1963 DS19, a 1992 XMV6 Sei. The current fleet consists of a 1989 BX 16v and a 2003 C5 V6 Exclusive..
Alan imported the XM from the UK in May 1996. It is a standard 3 litre V6 auto with leather interior. The exterior bodywork and Italian made alloy wheels are the same as those used for the 24v version of that era. Rated by Alan as the best Citroen yet and the last of the lunar vehicles to come out of Citroen. It had done 100,000 miles when he sold it in February 2006, which has been replaced by a C5 (at right)
At left a rare sight as three BX's are wedding cars for Alan's nephew back in 1992. Alan's 1986 BX16TRS is at right, while Alan's sisters provided the other two cars. Far left a 1988 BX19TRi and in the centre, the white bridal car, a 1989 BX19TRS. In addition Alan's mother has a white BX 19TRi auto. Alan rates the BX as the most reliable and practical Citroen he has owned. It started its life as an Avis rental car. Purchased in 1987 with 19,000kms and had done 157,000km upon sale in June 2002.
